My Pilates journey started following a conversation with my personal trainer at the gym about how improving my core strength could help with my cycling.
I was aware of Hannah through the mountain bike coaching and noticed that she was running Pilates classes early on a Friday morning, the classes in Westbourne were before work so worked perfectly with riding back to work after class.
I was starting as a complete beginner which Hannah took into account, and with great patience, she guided me through the exercises and the breathing which was all new to me. Working slowly in the movements also took some getting used to but with the class sizes being small it was easy for Hannah to give me guidance to slow down.
After a couple of weeks I could definitely feel the benefits in my core and my stability on the bike which made longer rides more comfortable.
With the pandemic Hannah worked hard to transition the classes to online delivery and to build a fabulous website. I also used this opportunity to work with Hannah to build plans specific to my goals and to have fortnightly one to one session, these have been invaluable. Although I am not cycling so much these days Pilates still forms a large part of my exercise as it helps with my hill walking goals just as much.
