Happiness chemicals and how to release them
Dopamine – The reward chemical, to release this you need to:
- Complete a task, book, puzzle
- Take some ‘me’ time – maybe do 10 minutes Pilates
- Eat something healthy and reward your body with nutrients
- Celebrate the good in each day
Oxytocin – The love hormone, to release this you need to:
- Play with your pet
- Play with your kids
- Hug it out
- Compliment someone
Serotonin – The mood booster, to release this you need to:
- Get moving run, walk, cycle, swim, skip
- Pilates
- Meditate – some great apps out there to help with this
- Get outdoors, nature is powerful go walk by the sea or in the woods
Endorphin – The pain killer, to release this you need to:
- Laugh
- Pilates or other exercise
- Eat something naughty but nice – chocolate
- Bubble bath with or without a glass of something fizzy
