We’re all guilty of it – spending way too much time hunched over our phones, scrolling through social media, texting with friends, or bingeing the latest show. But did you know this poor posture can lead to neck stiffness and pain?
The condition is called “text neck” and it’s becoming increasingly common as we spend more and more time looking down at our phones and devices. Here’s how it happens:
When you tilt your head forward and down to look at your phone screen, it puts extra strain on the muscles, tendons, and discs in your neck and upper back. The further forward you bend your head, the more pressure you’re putting on those areas.
Over time, this unnatural position can lead to:
Neck stiffness and pain
- Headaches
- Poor posture
- Shoulder pain
- Wear and tear on the spine
Tips to Avoid Text Neck
The solution is simple – be mindful of your posture and take frequent breaks from your phone!
๐ฒ Hold your phone up higher, closer to eye level
