As a lover of two wheeled adventures myself, both on and off road I have experienced that tight neck and upper back feeling you sometimes get whilst riding.

The long periods in a flexed position put strain on the muscles between your shoulder blades and the constant vibration through your handlebars can lead to fatigue and muscle tightness. The key to banishing this pain is to strengthen your core and back muscles, however before you can strengthen the muscles you need to improve the condition of the muscle fibres with stretching and maybe even massage techniques!

Today I am going to take you through a great upper back and neck stretch you can use prior to riding and also any strength work you may be doing on your upper back.

• Either sitting or standing place your left hand behind your back

• Lean your head to the right and then dip your chin forward • Place your right hand on your head and gently pull forward until you can feel the stretch

• Hold for 30 seconds

• Repeat on the other side
