Pre and Post Natal Fitness Classes

I attribute my health and fitness, both during my pregnancy and since the birth of my baby girl Ffion, to Pilates. I continued to cycle until I reached 37 weeks, something I don’t believe I would have been capable of doing without the strength I gained from Pilates. What’s more, just a short four weeks after the birth I was back on my bike. I was back on the Pilates mat within a couple of days of her birth, something I don’t believe I would have been able to do if it hadn’t been for my pre-natal Pilates routine.

This is something that I am deeply passionate about and sharing Pilates with all those incredibly strong women during their pregnancies and beyond is something that I love. I want to help each and every pregnant woman who attends my classes harness that inner mum power that helps the female body cope with so much.

Why is Pilates great for pregnancy?

Pilates is a fantastic form of exercise for everyone, but it is particularly beneficial during pregnancy. It trains your body to be strong, mobile and balanced, all of which are very important as your pregnancy progresses, and you can become a little unsteady on your feet due to your growing bump.

Whether you are looking to become fitter, healthier, or just help your body through your pregnancy and beyond, my pregnancy Pilates classes have been carefully choreographed to help improve your posture, strength and flexibility using functional movements that will help you to get the most out of life. All of the exercises that are used in both the pre and post-natal Pilates classes are suitable for during and after pregnancy.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a structured exercise programme that ensures that the person doing the exercise is using the right muscle group to perform each of the movements. Core control and functional movement patterns are at the heart of every live class that I create and every one of the classes you will find in my online Pilates studio.

Different classes to suit different people

Let’s face it for many women, pregnancy and life with a new-born can be tricky and finding that all-important time for yourself is never easy, especially if you are holding down a full-time job as well. When it comes to Pilates classes, I quickly came to realise that there was no one class fits all scenario, and this is especially true of pregnancy and post-natal Pilates classes. For this reason, in addition to the in-person pregnancy Pilates classes that I run, I also run on-demand pre-natal and post-natal Pilates courses that are suitable for each trimester. These are ideal for those women who are finding it difficult to get to in-person classes.

Of course, when your little one is here, you might feel it is even harder to find free time, which is why I also run a range of in person buggy fitness sessions each week from Westbourne. These are the perfect opportunity to get out of the house with your baby, stay active and meet other new parents.

Whether you’re a first-time mum in your first trimester, or ready to get back to fitness after the birth of your child, why not sign up online, or show up in person, and reap the benefits of pre-natal and post-natal Pilates – as well as having fun while you do so?
